Granular urea pricing has followed natural gas rather than agricultural demand for most of the year, and the spread between Baltic and Middle East origins has widened accordingly.
For buyers planning Q4 shipments, three variables matter: European gas curves, Chinese export policy, and vessel availability out of the Black Sea. Each of them can move landed cost more than the negotiated FOB price.
Our recommendation to long-term partners is to fix tonnage early and keep the freight leg flexible, rather than the reverse.
